Power 28V kit with 14V PAG Cinergy Batteries
1ST SEPTEMBER 2024
PAG Ltd. UK, the creator of innovative, high-end, portable power systems for the film and television industry, has announced the introduction of its new Cinergy Battery, a series/parallel linking battery for powering both high and low-voltage cameras and equipment.
The Mini PAGlink Cinergy Battery is rated at 14.8V 6.7Ah 99Wh. It can be linked in series with other Mini PAGlink batteries, combining the voltage output, to power high-voltage equipment in the range 24V to 33.6V, such as the Arri Alexa 35. It can also be linked in parallel, combining capacities and increasing run-time or current-draw, for powering low-voltage equipment in the range 12V to 16.8V.
The Cinergy battery will switch the output of the linked batteries to high voltage if its infrared sensor reads a Cinergy barcode label, applied to the equipment’s battery mount. The Cinergy battery must be linked to another fully charged MPL battery, and its display button must be pressed for 3 seconds to complete the switch to high-voltage mode. Once removed from the barcode, the batteries revert to low-voltage mode, suitable for charging with a standard 14V charger or for powering low-voltage equipment.
With Cinergy, the same MPL batteries can be used to power both high and low-voltage kit; this is ideal for camera hire companies. With Cinergy, it’s not possible to supply 28V to low-voltage equipment accidentally, because the system requires a barcode and a button-press. With Cinergy, there is no need for additional 28V battery chargers, because the individual batteries are rated at 14.8V. With Cinergy, you can fly with the power you need for 28V kit, because Li-Ion batteries rated at 28V are not permitted on passenger flights.
The Cinergy Battery is available in Gold Mount and V-Mount formats. PAG has also introduced high-quality, anodised aluminium V-Mount and Gold Mount plates for the Alexa 35, to replace the B-Mount plate supplied with the camera. The plates feature the Cinergy barcode label, positioned in alignment with the Cinergy battery sensor.
PAG Ltd. UK, is a leading designer and manufacturer of portable power solutions for cameras and accessories used for broadcast acquisition, video production and digital cinematography. The company is best known for its intelligent linking battery systems available in V-Mount and Gold Mount formats.
